Static Nail Review: Is it worth the hype?

Are Static Nails worth the hype? They make some pretty bold claims when it comes to glue on nails so I decided to put them to the test! I feel like with the wear and tear I put my hands through every day being a SAHM, I was the perfect person to put these nails on the hot seat to see if they could really withstand the long wear they claim.

Static Nails Claim “Give yourself the perfect manicure instantly, without the salon cost. No Damage, No Commitment.. Manicures Made Easy.”
This sounded simple enough and since I wanted a way to fix my nails easily at home this was a great affordable alternative. I purchased the Madamoiselle Coffin set for $18 as they seemed neutral enough to still look real. I evaluated the nails on the following factors price, ease of use, natural look, durability, damage to my nails, and removal. Read on below to see what I found alternatively you can also check out my vlog below to see what the application was like.

Price - Static Nails actually range on the higher end of the spectrum in terms of glue on nails. However I will say that the actually quality of the nails are pretty good they are thin but strong and I would say pretty durable. They also claim that they are reusable however I would argue this since the nail decor gets a little scratched when you wear them. So their statement regarding not a salon cost is accurate because the minimum price to do anything in a salon is usually like $30-$40.

Ease of Use -> “Instant Manicure” - I will say while this was the first time putting them on, it did take me like an hour total to apply them, including prepping my nails, applying fake nails, and filing them down. So not too bad but I can paint my nails in 5 minutes flat so that is something to consider.

“No Commitment” - I assume they are referring to the face that they come off easily… I did find this to be the case however I do think I read somewhere that they recommend you leave them on for at least 4 days but I can’t be sure if that’s accurate.

Natural Look - I really loved the way these nails looked once they were on. They looked totally natural and I was obsessed with the color. They did need to be filed down quite a bit but I didn’t mind that because it made them look for like my natural nail. You can leave them as they are and they would just look like an acrylic nail which is cool too.

Durability - As I mentioned I thought I would be the perfect person to put these to the test because I am constantly using my hands for dishes, laundry, baby baths, dog baths, cleaning, etc. On the second day the nail on my right ring finger popped off when I was doing laundry. This made me a tad nervous because I realized that if they popped off like this and I wasn’t paying attention they could become a serious choking hazard for my son. I was able to re-glue the nail on and it did seem to be pretty solid after that but I was a tad nervous.

All in all they do seem pretty durable despite how thin they are. They didn’t chip and while I had them on I didn’t notice any of the paint chipping off that much which is good.

Damage - Ok time for a shocking twist ! I absolutely had damage to my nail and I’m actually quite beefed about it because it has never happened to me ever! I am sure Static Nails will claim user error but it really grossed me out and was actually the reason I removed all of my Static Nails.

I noticed something dark under the middle finger on my right nail so I pried it off and I guess water had made its way in because green mold had grown on my nail .. I know barf !As soon as I saw that I was legit one and done. So as cute as they were no way was I going to risk anymore mold growing on any of my other nails!

Removal - This was easier than I thought it was going to be. First I took a bath and let my hands soak in the hot water for a long time. Then after the bath I dropped a couple drops of the Static Nail Polish Remover on each finger and let that soak. Then while I was hanging out I just casually popped each of the nails off. Some of them broke in half during this process but all in all they were easy to remove.

Final Thoughts - I only kept the nails on for 5 days, which was such a short period of time in my opinion because I was really hoping they would last at least 10 to 14 days. To be fair it could have been user error that caused the water to get under my finger and grow mold, but that has never ever happened to me in my entire life (call it good luck) and it just super grossed me out. So perhaps if that hadn’t happened they would have stayed on longer and I would be a Static Nail fanatic… Would I apply them again? Probably not.. honestly it was a bit of a process to get them on in the first place and while it was fun and I got to pamper myself for a bit if there is even the slightest risk that the mold could happen again I am not here for it. So I guess I’ll stick to painting my nails from now on!
